Kate Nulty and Andrew Malleson have joined the Committee, taking over from Carol Brown and Julia Altman, Membership Secretary for the past two-and-a-half years.

Here’s what they had to say:

Kate: "Having been a member of the Friends for several years, I got involved with last year’s Funday which was a great day (although rather hot), and decided I would like to become more involved. I got the chance when my partner, Steve, asked me to do a ‘chicken run’ with him. It was something I really enjoyed, especially holding the rescue chickens and seeing them take their first steps to their new life of freedom. I have gradually become more involved and wanted to offer my help where it may be needed."

Andy: "Hi there, I’m Andy. I’ve been involved with Southridge since February 2010. I spend most of my free time walking the dogs which I absolutely love as I can’t have a dog of my own. I was asked to join the committee by a fellow member. It was something I’d never done before so I thought it would be a good challenge. There is a great atmosphere at Southridge and I’ve made some good friends amongst staff and volunteers. The Friends is such an important part of Southridge as without them some things would not be possible, which is why it’s such a great organisation to be involved with and to help raise vital funds to make sure the animals receive the best of care. I’ve helped at several events and the amount of time, effort and organisation that goes into running an event is unbelievable, so much to think about and to do but it’s all worth the effort as they are great fun."

We all wish them well in their new roles
